Organic Gardening

Join Nick the Fruit and veggie Master and learn how to grow chemically free produce.  This course is a comprehensive study of how to grow vegetables in containers and reap a bountiful harvest; it includes amending the soil, placement and protecting the container from the harsh sun, watering, trellising and many more techniques to improve your movable garden.

Growing vegetables amidst your flowers is not only sustainable but quite attractive; since perennials need much less fertilization than vegetables, learn how to amend a specific area without disturbing its neighbors.

Fruit trees and brambles need constant attention even during the summer months, and in this class we’ll show you how to remove unnecessary growth, fertilize, implement an organic pest management, and how to attract beneficial insect to destroy the unwanted pests.

Since worm compost is an integral part of organic gardening, we’ll show you how to build an outdoor bin and indoor wormery to house your worms. Learn what types of worms to use, what to feed and not to feed and other invaluable techniques that will add to your gardening repertoire; worm castings are very beneficial to the soil.

The last class may include a visit to the instructor's garden.
