WINTER/SPRING 2008 - CULINARY ARTS

Cooking classes have limited enrollment!
Staples High School Culinary Arts Room
(unless noted)

THE MAIN COURSE: KITCHEN BASICS AND BEYOND
with Cecily Gans
Learn kitchen fundamentals and essentials such as knife skills and cooking methods (sautéing, searing, grilling, roasting, braising, etc.) to complete basic functions throughout the kitchen, all the while building your repertoire of ingredients and flavors.  Each evening will focus on several components: an introduction to techniques, new and seasonal ingredients, blending of complementary flavors and the preparation of a simple, yet contemporary menu.  Students will be encouraged to put on an apron, take part in all aspects of preparing the meal and learn through hands-on practical application, preceded by thorough demonstration.  Each menu will consist of several courses and, generally, a dessert.
