#067  DRAWING: AN INTRODUCTION ~ Learning to draw is the most important basic skill for any artist. It is the process of seeing vs. looking. Everything is built on this  foundation. Using charcoal, pen & ink, and pencils we will learn a variety of techniques to help us experience the world around us.  Materials list is available in the office and on our website (Instructor, Steve Parton)

#125 DRAWING IN THE DAYTIME ~ For those with some drawing experience. Whether you want to learn to sketch quickly or draw detailed objects, this class will teach you techniques to draw flowers, portraits, and still-lifes in a fun learning environment. Bring to the first class: drawing pad (preferable Strathmore 400 series), pencils #2H, HB, and 2B, kneaded eraser, clear plastic ruler, and a pad of tracing paper. #305 SELLING AND MARKETING YOUR DESIGNS FOR ARTISTS ~ Artists and craftsmakers, this is your chance to take all those great ideas and finally create your own line of products. This workshop will show you how to set up a creative small business, manufacture and sell your products successfully. We will discuss pricing, contracts, copyrights, trademarks, craft, trade shows and galleries, finding resources and much more. #066 ACRYLIC PAINTING ~  The most versatile medium in art, acrylic painting can take your creativity anywhere you want to go.  Basic drawing, composition, and painting techniques are learned in a step by step process that builds confidence. Experiment with different styles as you paint still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. Relax and play with paints — what a great idea! #079 PAINT LIKE A MASTER ~ Beginning to Advanced: Learn how to paint by reproducing one of the great masters of art history. By copying Monet, Van Gogh, DaVinci, you can learn the techniques, composition, and the mechanics of making a painting as we concentrate on materials, different ways of using a brush, applying paints, colors, mixing mediums, etc. We will visit a museum one evening of the course. Interested in painting but not copying? You can work on portraits, landscapes or still lifes. (Instructor, Frank Bruckmann)

Frank Bruckmann studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Paris American School of Art in Paris. He spent 8 years living and painting in Europe copying the Masters in museums like the Louvre, the Musee D’Orsay, and the Prado.

#181 FIGURES AND STILL LIFES IN WATERCOLOR AND GOUACHE ~ Intermediate to Advanced: Have an adventure! Learn new ways of painting, exploring and drawing! We’ll look at the still life paintings of great artists and paint our own. In class we’ll experiment with a new technique every week and keep a sketchbook. Come prepared to paint. #070 THE NATURAL WORLD IN MIXED MEDIA ~ Join us for this creative overview in various art media — pastel, watercolor, collage and printmaking — using nature as the subject matter. We will also study the work of master artists in each discipline. While this course is designed to encourage beginners to “take the plunge” into the creative realm, artists of all levels of experience are welcome. All art supplies and materials will be provided - you need only bring a keen interest in art and nature.  (Instructor, Betsy Beach)

#084 WOODCARVING ~ We are bringing back our ever popular woodcarving course! This beginner/intermediate course is based on traditional and modern techniques. Create a shorebird or another object in a professional artistic manner. All aspects of carving, finishing, and painting will be covered. A small material fee will be charged, when applicable. How simple and satisfying it can be to create stylish fashions for yourself, your children, or grandchildren. Or use your skills to create beautiful items for your home or gifts. You may be surprised how quickly you will learn. If you know a little about sewing, you may bring your own pattern or project. Sewing is fun for all ages! #455 JEWELRY MAKING ~ This introductory course will take the participants through the concepts of designing as well as making attractive jewelry.  Create pendants, earrings, brooches, and necklaces working with various wires, semi-precious stones and beads. A material fee will be applied to the cost individually as needed.  (Instructor, Susan Bishop)

#850 POTTERY MAKING ~ Explore the art of making pottery through the use of the potter’s wheel and experimenting with hand building and decorating techniques.  Slab, coil, and pinch pot construction will be covered along with a basic introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel.  Pieces will be enhanced by adding texture, carving appliqué and more.  Glazing will be taught toward the second half of the sessions.  (Instructor, Elizabeth Fontana)
