Committing to regular exercise is one of the most important things you can do to lower your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. There’s no shortcut to good health, but regular, moderately intense walking can help you maintain a healthy weight, manage stress, and sleep better. Join veteran fitness trainer Linda Gottlieb for a twice weekly workshop and walk your way to wellness. Learn to stretch safely and effectively, practice exercises to maintain good posture and regain balance, review the basics of strength training and the importance of weight-bearing exercise, and discuss the impediments to, well, putting one foot in front of the other and walking out the door. We'll be walking inside and out, weather permitting; we’ll even walk to music! Wear comfy clothes and sneakers. $10 materials fee for Walking for Wellness handbook, payable directly to instructor at first session.
